Agreement to these terms

By using the website or subscribing to Austin Daily Briefing, you agree to these Terms of Use and the Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service or unsubscribe.

What Austin Daily Briefing is

Austin Daily Briefing is an independent, experimental passion project based in Austin, Texas. It provides a free email with selected local news, context, events, and personalized interests.

It is not affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by the City of Austin, another government agency, or any news organization or source linked in a briefing.

An evolving and experimental service

The service is actively being developed. Its schedule, sections, personalization methods, sources, design, and technical systems may change. Features may be tested, revised, paused, or removed. We may also limit or discontinue the service.

We do not promise that every briefing will arrive at a particular time or that the service will always be available.

Editorial process and AI

Automated tools, including AI, may help discover, rank, organize, summarize, and personalize material. Editorial rules and human judgment may also shape what appears. The balance between automation and human review may change while the system is tested.

Automated summaries can misunderstand a source, omit context, or make other errors. Links are provided so readers can review original reporting and official information.

Informational—not professional—content

The briefing is for general information. It is not legal, medical, financial, emergency, or other professional advice. Do not rely on it as your only source for a deadline, public-safety warning, election information, transportation change, benefit eligibility, or another decision with serious consequences.

For urgent or consequential matters, verify the information with the responsible government agency, service provider, qualified professional, or original source.

Your subscription

• Provide an email address you control and keep your information reasonably accurate.
• Do not subscribe another person without their permission.
• Use the management tools to pause, resume, reset, or unsubscribe.
• Do not use the forms, reply address, or website to interfere with the service or submit unlawful, deceptive, abusive, or harmful material.

You must be at least 13 to subscribe. If you are under 13, do not provide an email address or other personal information.

Sources and intellectual property

News reports, government materials, photographs, event listings, and other linked material belong to their respective owners. Austin Daily Briefing does not claim ownership of third-party content.

The Austin Daily Briefing name, original design, organization, and original explanatory text may not be copied or presented as another service without permission. Ordinary sharing of links or brief excerpts with clear attribution is welcome.

External services and links

The website and emails may link to third-party services. We do not control their availability, accuracy, security, accessibility, or privacy practices. A link does not necessarily mean that Austin Daily Briefing endorses the source or every view it expresses.

Suspension or removal

We may suspend or remove a subscription when reasonably necessary to address misuse, protect the system, comply with law, or fix a technical problem. You may stop using the service at any time by unsubscribing.

No guarantees

Austin Daily Briefing is provided “as is” and “as available.” We aim to make it useful and reliable, but we do not guarantee completeness, accuracy, timeliness, uninterrupted delivery, or fitness for a particular purpose.

To the extent allowed by law, Austin Daily Briefing and its operator are not responsible for indirect or consequential losses arising from use of the service, reliance on its content, missed delivery, or use of a third-party link. Nothing in these terms removes a right or responsibility that cannot legally be limited.

Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as the project develops. The date at the top will change when we do. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. If a change is material, we will provide a more prominent notice when reasonably practical.

Texas law

These terms are governed by Texas law, except where another law must apply. If one part of these terms cannot be enforced, the remaining parts still apply.
